rush nerves

How do you calm down/handle rush nerves and fear of not getting a bid at all? Do a lot of girls not get bids at all? Any tips?

I know me telling you not to worry won't help, but seriously there is nothing to worry about. Last year we had over 1600 PNMs and only 3 were completely released from the process. If you do everything you're supposed to and maximize your options, you will get a bid.

Sorry to bother! But where did you find the statistic that only 3 girls were totally released last year? Thanks

It's not something you can find online or anything. It's just a true fact I was told about last year's recruitment and I assure you it's correct information.
My last piece of advice is to get off this website, enjoy your summer, and don't worry about recruitment! When you show up in August just be yourself and save all your questions for your recruitment counsellors. They'll be able to answer all your questions. I wish you the best!

1. Be attractive
2. Don't be unattractive

Do this and you'll get top 6

I was nervous all throughout rush, upset with my schedule a couple times, and really doubted myself. I ended up in a top six house, but could have been happy in other houses too. I know it's easy to be scared and worry about impressing people but go with your gut on which houses you click with during conversations. I realized a couple houses I went in thinking I would love weren't right for me at all. As far as this summer, just have fun with your friends. Pick out a couple cute outfits early on for rush rather than waiting last minute. Get your rec stuff in early and practice conversation skills, try new things! Just be the best version of you and rush will go fine.

It's true that only 3 girls didn't get bids but hundreds dropped on their own before hand.

The way recruitment is set up at USC every girl gets a bid. You'll hear this a lot and you'll think it's cheesy but the best advice I can give you is be yourself. Don't try to make yourself to be a person you're not just because you think that's the kind of girl that house wants. Be yourself and trust recruitment because you will end up where you belong and love it and meet the best sister that you'll connect with if you do. If you lie about who you are, you might end up in a popular house but not really experience the side of joining a sorority which is finding a sisterhood you wouldn't trade for the world. Also be polite to the girl that's rushing you even if you have no interest what's so ever in that house. And dont take getting dropped personal if they don't know you personally because recruitment doesn't make it possible for everyone to see the full extent of how awesome every pnm is.
