sophomore transfer

by: Lilah

I am strongly considering transferring to USC next semester and rushing in the fall. Would being a sophomore transfer make my chances of getting in a house worse? What are some things I can do to increase my chances?

Transferring might make your chances worse, just because knowing people who are already in a sorority you're rushing helps. However, it's very likely that you WILL still end up with a bid of some sort unless you drop out of rush. Are you a legacy? that doesn't hurt. Typically, you end up in the house you're meant to be in anyways, so don't dress.

Yeah I am a legacy at 3 of the 11 houses. Thank you so much for your input!

Don't let the people on this website scare you. About 25% of PNMs are Sophomores, and plenty of them are transfers. You DO NOT have to know someone in the house to have a chance at getting a bid- quotas are so high that it's almost guaranteed you'll get a bid from somewhere. Just be yourself and more importantly, be honest with yourself. If you don't get a good vibe in a house, chances are they didn't get one either. Just because it's a "top tier" doesn't mean that you should keep them in your list.
