Why would beta lose their house?

Maybe because they never owned it? Lambda owns the house and beta isn't good enough to get a permanent house. The house is the only reasons they have numbers.

...its not that they weren't "good" enough to have a house...its that having a house helped make them become "better"...and not having one is a disadvantage...
