I knew which sorority I wanted to be in based on where I could have real conversations with girls. In a lot of the houses, my conversations were extremely superficial but I ended up picking the one where we could talk about anything and it flowed naturally. Also, one of the houses asked me where my dress was from, and up until then I loved them, but I realized that my answer probably wasn't what they were expecting to hear and immediately felt uncomfortable.

If you want to get a good feel for them outside of reputations, check out their websites or their tumblrs-- you can get somewhat of a feel of how they are from what their social media outlets look like. I know some sororities (tri delta for sure) update their blog every single week so you can get an idea of what they've been doing, but most have at least some posts on their blogs. A lot also have some sort of guiding document (Chi Omega symphony, Delta Zeta creed, Alpha Chi Omega symphony, etc.) that is viewable to the public and says something about their beliefs and values. A big part of sorority life (for the kind of sisters we want) is becoming a better woman, and you want to see which organizations principles that you agree with and can stand by/ promote.

So that was pretty much my answer as to why I like/chose/still belong to my chapter without actually revealing my chapter, because it will be different for everyone.
