I think recs still help us get a handle on whose coming through and I use them as do others. You generally get passed to second round with them so it gives you another shot.
USC is about one-third out of staters so we're not as "southern" as some of the other SEC schools. I think it's a huge strength but it also helps GL.

USC rush for sororities is about who you are not who you know. Legacies are helpful, but you don't need to be one. Recs don't hurt, but you don't necessarily need them like you would at bama or tcu, etc.
That said, all sororities are "integrated" these days - in terms of taking Yankees. When my sister went here adpi and kd wouldn't take Yankees, and ddd, axo, zta, and xo were the "good" sororities that took northerners. Now even adpi has tons. That said, it is still slightly harder toget into a top 5 or 6 as a Yankee, but not by much anymore.
