It’s better to be in the sorority you fit in at. You shouldn’t worry about getting in a top tier house because that might not be where you belong. And since you are worrying about it you definitely aren’t top tier material.

If you’re worried about it then you probably won’t get in one.

Although I agree with those saying you'll probably get where you fit best, the great thing about rushing is finding out where you end up. And- if you end up getting a bid to a sorority you aren't totally happy with, you have until initiation to decide if you really want to be in that sorority. If you decide you don't like it, you can drop it and rush again the next fall if you want. If you wait to drop after initiation, unfortunately you won't be able to rush again unless you transfer schools. Initiations for sororities vary, but you should have a couple weeks if not months to get a feel for it. Hope this helps!

The part about being able to re-rush after initiation if you transfer is NOT true. If you are initiated into an NPC sorority, you learn their secret ritual which means you can never join another NPC sorority ever, even if you change schools. Girls who try it pretty much always get found out.

Also, ignore the "top tier" stuff. All of the sororities are great and have their own unique vibe. Just see where you end up and figure out what to do from there. I promise most people don't give a crap which sorority you're in, they just see it as you're a "sorority girl"

What makes a sorority top tier is all subjective and biased

I totally agree! Everything you read on here is biased by individual self interest. GR is not reality and people don’t go around calling each other top or bottom tier like you read on here. Even if they did - Anyone who would be that immature isn’t worth your concern.

Once you initiate, you cannot ever be in a different sorority, even if you change schools. A lot of girls don’t end up where they thought they would. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn’t. The only way you’ll know is if you give it a try. Nobody really cares about “tiers” after the first year, anyway.

If you are coming here with the plan that you will change schools and initiate into a particular sorority so that you can be in that sorority at the school you transfer to, you might be disappointed. Some sororities are not required to and don't accept all transfers into their chapters. Saw this happen to several girls and now they can't be active in any sorority.
