borrowing this from my brother's school's page

Because it made me think. This is my last time coming on this website and idc how many up or downvotes it gets. Please read.
So I was going to post this at the beginning of the week but I got lazy. But here's a little story. I came to this school not knowing a thing about Greek Life and having only a few friends. I'm a male and joined a fraternity that a few of my kind friends pointed me to. I had a great time for the first few months, took girls from a wide range of sororities on date functions, regardless of how "good" their sorority was. I hung out with people that I liked, our tailgates and events were a fun time. Life was good....then someone showed me this website. At this point I had no idea tiers were a thing. I thought everyone joined an organization they liked and whatever. I will admit I became obsessed with the website, would check it out multiple times a day to see if we had moved in some stupid made up ranking. I started only taking girls from "top" sororities on dfs, would check this page after an event/tailgate, and literally for about 6 months this website stole my happiness. I was finally able to get off it when I realized a few very important things.
1. Tiers and ranks only exist in this website. This is so freakin important. I went a whole semester not knowing the difference between a "top" vs. a "bottom" because it's not a thing in real life.
2. No one actually uses this website. Greek life here is a few thousand people yet there are only a few hundred views on each post. If you cut out the parents, gdis and freshman who are starting/just finished rushing there's like 50 people left.
3. No matter what your organization does people aren't going to move your organization up. They're not part of it, so why would they want to see it succeed.
4. It looks terrible in real life when you make a comment about your organization being in a certain tier. It makes you look shallow and then you also openly admit to using this website which is such a narcissist move.
5. If you're a nice, fun person, you will have a fun time in Greek life regardless of your sorority/frat.
Moral of the story, congrats to all the new PCs. Please get off this website. I fell into a spiral of comparison and envy over issues that were not real because someone showed me this site. Tiers aren't real. Have a fun time and embrace your organization and you'll enjoy the next four years.
