It's inevitable that some actives and pnm's will already know each other from high school or mutual friends or whatever. It's an advantage but it's not dirty rushing, nobody can unknow someone or disregard their opinion of them for recruitment. Don't worry about something that you can't do anything about. Connections are not everything, lots of pnm's don't have them and you can have a good rush.

Some sororities have permission to reach out to girls in advance. This is usually because they have a high number of girls wanting in their sorority and it’s a way to help start determining interest before they make cuts. It can seem frustrating and like you’re not wanted but the list of 200+ girls they have comes from their current members. They know there are other girls out there which is why they determine interest early. They have a limited number of spots and can’t exceed that number. Also, they are only supposed to answer questions about recruitment; not about their sorority. Dirty rushing is when a sorority basically tells a girl she’ll be invited to the house. That’s not okay. Right now you can ask questions to any sorority girl about rush. If they have a recruitment team working on the list, they can give you someone’s name to contact with questions. Once they close recruitment registration, it stops. Some sororities I know who have permission are adp, theta, aoii, zta, axo, pmu, kappa, xo, kd. There may be a few more. Again, they are only supposed to answer general questions. Hope that helps.

Whoever or whatever wrote the above knows nothing and needs to STFU. No sorority has different "permission" than any of the others, panhellenic rules apply across the board to ALL sororities. Releases are made based on what the sororities are looking for and their RFM numbers, NEVER by "determining interest" from pnm's before recruitment. And the number of spots is not determined until Quota is set, which is after pref. There is so much BS on this site.
