UNG Oconee or Georgia Southern

Please please hear me. You WILL REGRET UNG!!! I don't care how many friends you have they will get close with their pledge class and girls in their dorm. You WILL NOT have a regular freshman experience. Just go to Southern, join a sorority and enjoy your first 2 years. By the time your transfer not will likely be your junior year and you will be over the whole Greek scene. I will say keep this in mind. Sororities are absolutely not obligated to take you if you transfer. If you are a Kappa, XO or Aopi at Southern where they are the lowest tier their and top here, you have zero chance. I've seen GSU Zeta and PMs reaffiliate here. ADPi and KD are top houses at both schools so it would really just depend on you.
You want to know how I know? 2 of my best friends from high school did the UNG/Athens thing. Even though they had a ton of friends, went DT all the time and went to a ton of frat parties they still regretted it. They both transferred to Southern, loved it. One stayed and the other transferred to UGA after a year.

For what it’s worth, I visited my hs best friend who was a UGA student and pledged a sorority as a freshman. I was surprised there were “UGA” bars and separate “UNG” bars. She said the student bodies really don’t mix much.

uga students especially greek students don't really affiliate with ung students. It is more common for fraternities because they look for students transferring spring freshman year or fall sophomore year that they already know and know they will bid.
