Does Weight Matter?
by: SororityWhy, I’m thinking of rushing at uga, but I’m a size 8. Does size matter if I want to get into a good/top sorority?

You’ll see bigger girls (way bigger than size 8 for sure) in every single sorority here, but do keep in mind that a lot of them most likely gained weight after recruiting. The freshman 15 is real lol.
Honestly, if you have a bunch of friends in a sorority, even if it’s considered top tier based on looks, you’ll still have a good chance of getting a bid.
Where you’re likely to run into trouble is if you don’t know a lot of people in sororities here and don’t have the kind of personality that makes a killer first impression. In those cases, looks/weight matter a lot more since mid and top tier chapters tend to make a lot more cuts after rounds 1 and 2. If you’re on the heavier side and we don’t know much about you, there’s unfortunately a decent chance you won’t make it past those first cuts.
That being said, having lots of connections is def the most important thing. Also, the lower ranked houses, including some mid tier houses, make more of their cuts after the later rounds but before pref, so you should still have opportunities to make a good case for yourself based on personality and have a good chance at getting a bid somewhere decent.
Like others have said, size 8 definitely isn’t obese, so if your hair and makeup is done well, if you have a nice tan, and wear flattering but trendy clothes, your weight honestly shouldn’t be much of an issue as all!

I mean if your perception of reality is based off of the Disney Channel, then maybe. Life is cruel; sororities are superficial.
