should i bother to go through rush?
by: Size 22Large and in Charge girl here. I'm pretty popular here in HS, but I've been told TCU is a whole different ball game (I'm headed to TCU cause I got a scholarship and for my major - otherwise I'd go public). Anywho....is Rush a waste of time for me?

There's a previous post somewhere in here where a ton of people answered. Look for it! But I'm not gonna lie, some sororities are super judgmental about weight. But there's larger girls in every sorority.. Prepare yourself because sometimes tcu is a harsh place. Especially recruitment but I personally would recommend you to go through the process and while some sororities will discriminate you will find that some will be very accepting. Just don't go in thinking you want a specific sorority because you may be disappointed. Look for that post to get more opinions! Good luck!

The truth is that there are an amazing percentage of exceptionally beautiful girls at TCU. Size 0 and two are the norm. That does not mean you cannot go through recruitment and find a house. It does mean that it may be more difficult for you. Do not be discouraged, keep true to yourself, and good luck.

I had it narrowed down between TCU and two other schools. Bumping into this post helped me cross TCU off my list. Thank you so much for your honesty. I'm about a size 4-8 ( depending on the clothing brand). But I can't imagine spending four years in an environment like this. Good luck to y'all. Happy I won't be going here. Now I need to try to get some sleep so I can decide between two real schools by April 1st.
#6by: you know
Reading these posts does make me very nervous about TCU too. I know that reality is that discrimination does exist ,but even though I'm not large, I think having a university where size 0-2 is normal is a bit creepy. I'm going to college to better myself and expand my horizons. This school is sounding less and less like a place to do that. Seems like high school part 2. And really my high school isn't this stupid.
#7by: really?
It does bug me that you all on here are making it sound like every school is as cut-throat as TCU during recruitment . I have a lot of friends at other schools and this school is by far the most competitive. I'm not making a judgement either way, just being honest. Rather you like it or not, this school is very intense on looks.

We have close to 1000 girls go through recruitment each year. When you do the math with the overall enrollment there is no way around recruitment here being tough!!! I see what houses some of my high school friends were bid in at other schools and it would be a joke here. That is a fact! The plus side to the tremendous competition is that all our houses would kill it compared to other schools. Do you want to be among the best greek system or one where getting a bid is a joke? The entire atmosphere is top notch at TCU so it will make you a better person if you let it. No one is their personal best at size 22- I'm not talking about a size 8. Take the challenge and grow!

I'm glad some people are finally standing up to this bully attitude about weight and size. I'm in the Greek system, I'm small, and I'm tired of watching people be marginalized and otherized because of something so unimportant. Your size is really between you and your doctor (if you chose to share it with your doctor). It is none of my business. It bugs me that a lot of sisters try to say it is about health- it isn't. It is about control and being mean.

Here's the deal like some said it will make things more difficult at some sororities than others. However, if you have good grades, good personality, and good letters of recommendation you'll be fine and get a bid somewhere. Also the girl who said the norm is a size 0 or 2 is an idiot. Most TCU sorority girls are fit and in shape, but that doesn't mean that size 0-2 is the norm
