eating disorder and bpd

by: Born this Way

Hi - I'm going to TCU next year, and I'm excited about it. My parents have said they will support me in going through rush, so I plan to do it. I was adopted so my parents are older. I have had issues with food since I can remember and I was recently diagnosed with BPD, although I don't have tattoos and I don't display a lot of the typical patterns of BPD. It's possible that they diagnosed me because I was adopted. I do want to join a sorority , but I fear that the drama could be triggering for someone like me. I know I wouldn't be the only girl with food issues, and I'm pretty sure I would be the only one with BPD, but does anyone know if BPDs find the experience helpful or hurtful? Thank for helping me with this.

I'm not going to lie, there are things about sorority life that could trigger you, but there are also great things about sorority life. Good luck with your choices.

I'm often triggered by life and I don't have PBD. Life can be hard with or without BPD>

I have food issues too. It's hard. Thank you for helping to end the stigma. Sorority or not, I'm glad you're coming here to school. End the Stigma

I too have BPD. TCU is not a tolerant place to disclose such a diagnosis. I would love to telll you that you should be safe to tell people here, but I don't recommend it. I do okay here. Yes, I get triggered, but I have learned to manage it, and I tend to do it in private. I joined a more chill sorority, and even then only a few of my friends know about my condition. I wish you luck.

A lot of people here have moms who have BPD. Both undiagnosed and diagnosed. It becomes a problem cause the moms are intruding when they shouldn't'.

It shouldn't matter if a person has PBD or not. There are some people who like the intensity of BPD.

I believe I have some traces of BPD. I'm not getting an official diagnosis, cause I know the stigma of it can make it hard to get a job or medical insurance, but I'm working the steps to heal.

It should be no big Dela to have BPD.

If you are attractive, nice, dress well, and get good grades then nobody willl care. Just don't talk about it.
