Are sororities more willing to take you if you are out of state vs in state?

That normally doesn't matter. GPA is what mainly counts, and after open house round you just need to have fun, be nice and be respectable at each house. That is what matters more than where you are from.

it kind of depends on the house. generally in state is easier just because chances are you'll know some girls in houses already. some sororities won't invite you past open house rounds unless you know someone in the house and have a reference or have a letter of rec. if you're out of state and don't know anyone, your best bet is to get letters of rec for each house and try to make an extra good impression during rush
however being in state can be a bad thing if you've made some bad impressions on girls in houses
