formal recruitment rules

I'm going to be a freshman going through formal recruitment and I'm wondering how bad would it be if I broke the rules and went out at night during recruitment week? Is it a big no no or just one of those rules written that no one follows?

Getting caught could result in you getting kicked out of the recruitment process. I know a girl who got away with it without getting caught, but you have all year to party. I say don't risk it!
