Almost all current sororities were chartered at OU before women had the right to vote.
9 of our chapters have been continuously active for over 100 years.
They were active before, during and after the 19th Amendment, Title IX, Equal Pay Act, Row v Wade, 1st woman on the Supreme Court, and on and on women gathered together to support each other in sisterhood.
They aren’t going away. Each sorority has its purpose and is entrenched in the OU campus. That is what we mean when we say they are all great!
In the era of #MeToo #EqualPay #GenderEquality the women going through are different and yet somewhat more like those that started it all. Doesn’t mean you don’t like to take pictures and have fun. They aren’t mutually exclusive.
But moms and alums need to recognize the change and support it. It all started with women supporting women. And the posts that don’t align with that are out of touch with the amazing women who are our future!’
Good luck tonight. There are no bad choices. Just preferences amongst the all the best. And all 11 sisterhoods have that in them.
