cuts

I know people say that not even good friends are safe from cuts, but honestly, how does a person even get into a sorority without having friends in that sorority? I know people say it's all about connections but then some say not even active's closest friends rushing are safe from cuts

It's all about numbers. There are over 300 actives currently in each sorority. Each one of those actives have at least one girl they desperately want. There will be around 170 bids given out. That means that 130 of our close friends will not get bids.

To complicate the math even more, the alumni advisors have their ideal girls that the actives may not have ever met, or chapter legacies we have never met who they are pushing through.

As actives we can encourage our friends to vote for you, but in the end we don't control the order of the lists. The rush team and advisors do.

Some girls won't know any of the actives, but if a chapter alumni wrote her rec and made a few phone calls on her behalf, she can still get into a top house without knowing anyone.

My sister is a chi o at ut and they do not do this.

My best friend got cut last year even though all my friends loved her. The alumni order the lists and she was not high enough on their lists.
