is it bad to have mentioned to actives that you really want their sorority during things like spring parties

Did you just flat out say "I love xyz" or did you say something like "I love hanging out with you and all your friends. I have so much fun when I'm with you and your sisters" or "I loved getting to meet all the xyz's this weekend"

I've had tons of girls tell me that they will die if they don't get a bid to my sorority.

It tells me that I need to work harder to get them a bid.

If a girl plays coy, I take that as she really isnt interested. I don't work as hard.

When we say don't tell anyone your preference, we are talking about other pnm's who could sabotage your chances.

Also don't tell any alumni, who can't wait to run to other sororities to tell them how much you love their chapter.
