I only have 1 rec for each soroity. Is it really that detrimental

impossible question to answer. It honestly depends on thousands of things.

There is no magical formula to getting s bid. Some girls only have one rec, but that rec may come from a past chapter president. Others may have 10 recs, but she lacks grades or character.

Technically all you need is one to receive a bid. Even from top tiers. HOWEVER, if you want to put your best foot forward, and stand out, you need as many as you can find.

It's like asking "do you need to be skinny to receive a bid". Technically, no, but it sure does help.

You have 1899 other pnm vying for bids. Why wouldn't you spend a little time finding additional recs, or losing a little weight, or volunteering a little more, or spending a little time grooming yourself? Why wouldn't you do what you could to help your rush experience go a little more smoothly?

It's all about marketing yourself. Recs help paint a better picture. Kind of like a good restaurant review will help a restaurant become more desirable.
