rec letters, l.o.s., etc.
by: still learningI've seen different information, so can you all help me understand if it's better to have more rec. forms, or more letters of support? I know I have to have at least one rec per house, but if I have more alumni contacts should I have the other ladies do more rec forms or should they do l.o.s. ? Also, if you make it to preference round with two houses, are you guaranteed to get a bid from one of them, or could they both cut you and you're left without a bid? Thanks for your help :)

You only need one rec. This is a form letter. You can have multiple Los. These are very personal, written on the writers personal stationary
In a perfect world, to grab the attention on our rush teams you should have one Rec and between 3-4 Los. It is not unusual for your rec writer to also write a Los.

I had a near perfect rush. I only had one rec per house (each written by an ole miss alumni) and 3-4 or more LOS for each house.
I don't know which sororities require more than one, or which sororities don't read the LOS, but none of that mattered or hurt my rush.
To my knowledge, I was only cut by one house. Probably because I told the girl who was rushing me that my favorite was another house.

I guess that different sororities have different policies, but most sorority houses want more than one rec and some don't do letters of support
