How did you know you belonged at Ole Miss prior to going?

Anyone can chime in, but id love to hear what people from the midwest, west coast, east coast, etc, have to say because I am coming from very very far away

My family went to visit Ole Miss because my older brother wanted to tour the campus. I was in the 7th grade and I thought it was the best school I have ever seen! It was far away but not too far (we lived in Georgia), the school was beautiful, and I was already interested in sororities! When I got into high school, I didn't know I could really fit into Ole Miss until my brother introduced me to his friends, his gf, and his gf's friends. I spent hours looking at pictures of the campus.
When I got to my senior year, we had to move to Florida. I didn't know Ole Miss would still be an option for me because now it's 10-11 hours away from my parents (and money of course). My parents insisted that I apply and visit the campus again to see if I still loved it (after years of football games and tailgates). I really saw it as my school and I loved everything about it. You really get that "family" feel from it

My answer won't be exactly what you're looking for since I have lived in MS all my life and always been an Ole Miss fan, but I think you just know when you know! I knew I always wanted to go to Ole Miss but I tried to look at other colleges when it got close to being time to apply because I didn't want to just go to Ole Miss without even considering anywhere else. Well, I tried, and I just didn't feel that yearning to go anywhere other than here. I looked at other colleges and none of them interested me all that much no matter how hard I tried. I toured places and there were some really great schools that had the whole package, but Ole Miss is just so perfect for me in so many ways. I just feel so at home here and I always have, and I know I would probably eventually feel that wherever I went to college if I had gone somewhere else, but it just wouldn't have been the same. And like the above poster said, you really do get that family feel when you know you've found the right school.

I hate how rude everyone is in the Northeast and how all the schools had little to no tradition. I also love football, so I only looked at SEC schools. Stepping on campus I just knew I had found home.

I walked through the grove on a beautiful fall afternoon. I closed my eyes and imagined myself on campus. That's all it took for me to fall in love.

Being from another southern state, I was looking for a school with the same southern traditions that I was raised around. The same political leanings. The same culture. The same weather.

Other parts of the country are so different than having the charms of the south.
