Ok so I didn't realize that we had any sort of rule in place about social media or actives talking to pnms (except for during rush week) besides like promising girls bids or saying something else to that extent. Can someone outline the rules?

I've seen tons of actives following girls on social media and I know that every single one of those actives don't know these pnms. A few might, but I know not every single one does. So if Panhellenic found out about this those girls would be fined for dirty rushing???? I didn't realize that that counted as dirty rushing.

Actives can follow girls with mutual friends. This is no big deal. A big deal is asking random girls to hang out with you.

You should ask your sorority about this, not Greekrank

.....I am a pnm... I am not in a sorority yet, therefore I do not have a sorority to ask. I think you misread my question

We were allowed to connect on social media prior to June 1st. So the girls you know who are friends with actives on social media were probably connected prior to classes letting out for the summer.

The rules have really relaxed in recent years. A few years ago actives were not allowed to talk to pnm's at all prior to rush. It was super awkward.

Some sororities follow these rules strictly. Other sororities tell their actives that dirty rushing is okay, but if they are caught, they have to pay the fines out of their own pockets.

We will all try to get away with things we aren't supposed to.

so if you meet actives on campus(i know we won't really meet any this time of the year), they technically can't add you on social media, unless you have mutual friends or they know each other personally?

If you feel uncomfortable about sorority members reaching out to you and feel that this might be construed as dirty rushing, or if you feel pressured by one sorority or another, you can turn those girls in to Panhellenic and let those ladies decide whether or not a rush violation occurred.

Technically, PNM's don't really need to worry about rush violations, you will not be the ones getting into trouble, the actives will. Some sororities don't really care if their actives violate any rush rules, as long as the actives pay any fines assessed.

Unless it makes you uncomfortable, I wouldn't worry about it.
