fraternity rush

I've seen mostly discussions about sorority recruitment and rush. What is it like for guys going through rush?Also, if I do not currently know many actives of a certain fraternity I want to join, but my roommate does and we will hang out at their house before rush, do you think there is a chance of me getting a bid there? Thanks and hottty toddy!
