Unless you have a bad reputation, or terrible personal skills, you should do just fine.

Also, I hope I dont sound like I'm putting down colonizing. It just isn't for me.
And that makes me feel so much better. Still scared to rush at Ole Miss bc I dont know what to expect.

Don't sweat it and don't be nervous.

Unless you have a bad rep and the personality of a rock, you'll get a bid from an established house!

I knew three girls from my floor that were dropped completely from rush. Two were grade risks and one got so drunk on her first night in Oxford that she fell down and passed out in front of a group of actives (who all too happily took pictures and warned others).

I went through rush when ADPi was colonizing. Many transfers and sophomores chose not to rush because they really wanted to colonize ADPi and they knew their options would be limited to other sororities during formal recruitment.

I am not an ADPi, but I encourage you to take a look at their website and facebook page. Not a sad girl at all on bid day! Those girls were all so excited about receiving their bids and being the founding members!

I won't completely write off colonizing but it definitely only if I get dropped out of recruitment. I have a 3.9, so I am not grade risk and I never get sloppy in front of people.

I'll just have to wait and see what are the girls are like who are in established houses and all the girls who colonizing with Alpha Phi. I may change my mind but I worked hard getting my rec letters. I am going through formal recruitment darn it :)
My college experience wouldn't be the same without it.
Also, would y'all recommend get a rec letter for Alpha Phi or no?

Great attitude!

My freshman year ADPI was colonizing. I went ahead and had a rec letter sent (just in case). I ended up getting a bid to an established sorority, but would have totally gone through informal with ADPi if I didn't receive a bid the traditional way.

Get a rec for Alpha Phi -- pretty sure when they colonized at Bama, they required a rec.

I'm a kappa are will will be dropping grade risks, no exceptions. Other than that, we are not like the top tier houses who will brush you off if you don't have connections.

Legacies will get a courtesy invite back to second round only if you are a legacy through your sister, mom or grandmother. Aunts and Cousins don't count.

Thank you so much for telling me and the other pnms that! My biggest tick against me is i have no connections and that I'm older.
Will kappa consider older girls if they like them?

you should be fine if you have good grades, recs, etc.

Your options are gonna more limited but you can still get into an established house. Just keep your options open and be yourself.

More girls will be dropped this year to allow alpha pi a successful colonization. It happened two years ago and it will happen again this year.

NO NO NO!! More PNMs will NOT be dropped from formal rush in order to give Alpha Phi more girls to choose from. What a terrible piece of misinformation. Stop it. Quota is not set until AFTER Pref, in order to place as many PNMs who matched as possible.

This will have nothing to do with quota. More girls will be dropped earlier on.

Theta and ADPi won't be so pressured to take grade risks and reputation risks knowing that ADPi is colonizing and there will be places for these girls to go.

Poster who is saying girls will get dropped from formal recruitment to help Alpha Phi have more to choose from. Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, WRONG! That is not how it works. If 100 girls begin formal recruitment, are great prospects, and they all make the right choices when ranking the sororities to return to-meaning that they can tell which chapters are actually interested in them and where they stand a chance of getting a bid- then it is possible that all 100 will receive a bid. No portion of the PNM pool will be culled for Alpha Phi. BUT there will be girls who are dropped as grade risks, or bad reps, or poor hygiene, etc. There will also be girls who voluntarily drop out to pursue membership in Alpha Phi. Some will drop because they don't like the houses left on their invitation list, but there will be some who are interested in being founding members of a new sorority on campus.

I know I am only a pnm but I do know sororities do not want to share girls they like with other sororities and that they love to steal rush crushes. And let's say this was true, For ex: Chi O has 15 girls they like but they drop them all so APhi has more girls, who says that Phi Mu, DG, KD, etc wouldn't get them? No sorority wants to drop girls they believe in for another sorority.
That is like Dg dropping a girl so Pi Phi could get her.

That is just my thoughts. Feel free to correct me.

No, I don't think anyone is talking about dropping girls they WANT!

I think they are talking about dropping girls they don't want. I'm talking about Panhellenic coming back to each sorority after each round and letting them know how many girls they have to drop. This number will be different for each sorority based on return rates For example ddd will be dropping over 1000 girls after first round. ADPi may only have to drop 100. The numbers will be equalized based on return rates. (More girls will list ddd than ADPi).

With alpha pi, ADPi will be asked to shorted their list more this year than in years past.

Google how return rates work. It's a tricky formula that is constantly changing.

Panhellenic won't worry south about placing all the girls because they know alpha pi will be picking them up.

Invitations to next round parties are based on previous years (maybe 3) success rates. The more invitations accepted the less invitations need to be extended. In other words, ABC has a 99% acceptance rate for all rounds before prefs. DEF has a 75% acceptance rate. Because of their almost 100% acceptance rate ABC can invite back less girls and still pledge quota because statistically all or nearly all of the girls they have on their first bid list will choose to return or pledge. DEF doesn't have as strong a record as ABC so in order for them to pledge quota they need to invite back more girls than ABC does to have the same level of success. Quota is determined after pref. It is basically the remaining number of PNMs divided by the number of sororities. ABC is very successful so they may only have to invite back twice the number of quota to pledge to quota, while DEF might have to invite back 3 or 4 times quota to fill their new member slots. No girls will be set aside or cut from rush to provide new members for Alpha Phi. Girls who are dropped for various reasons or who drop out of their own accord have a chance to join Alpha Phi after Rush is over, but understand that every girl who attends Alpha Phi events won't get a bid, just like every girl participating in formal recruitment won't get a bid.
