DG should stay with KD below DDD and XO, but I do agree that AOPi should be with Pi Phi not Theta.

AOPi, Pi Phi, and Theta are all basically on the same level. That doesn't mean I think Pi Phi should be lower on the list or Theta should be higher, I just think those three are basically the same. They're all made up of a mixed bag of girls with a reputation of having members from everywhere.

Southern doesn't even begin to describe a sorority.

Tiers don't describe sisterhood.

Top tier represents houses that are most desired.

But why should I house be more desired just because it has more southern members? That doesn't make sense to me and doesn't sound like a viable defense, it sounds like discrimination

OP really confused me here. First she said "This is really how we should be ranking our tiers, rather than top/middle/bottom". But then she turned around and said "Just because a large portion of your chapter is from instate, it does not mean you are a top house. Having quality members is what makes you a top house." And then she turned back around and said Our "tiers" are better divided by where each chapter's members come from."

Like what???????? the second sentence I quoted says that you should not rank houses based on where their members are from, that it doesn't matter, but then the 1st and 3rd sentences that I quoted say that you should rank houses based on where their members are from?? I'm lost. OP did not make any sense here.

I think what OP is trying to say is our top/middle/bottom is currently being based off of where girls are from and it shouldn't be that way. Like there are tiers, but within those different categories...I think?

Nobody is saying being southern provides a better sisterhood.

Sisterhood is what you make of it. Every sorority has girls who are obsessed with their sorority and every sorority has girls who struggle to fit in.

Being southern doesn't fit any equation!

Have you been to ole miss? Have you experienced the grove during a football game? Have you met the sweet locals? Have you seen the campus in the fall?

We do not view sororities based on who is more "southern"

Keep make excuses all you want, but this is just not a "thing".

Top tier houses get the best girls from all over the nation, not just southern states!

Get real! They do not discriminate based on which side of the Mason-Dixon Line you are coming from!

They do discriminate based on zip code depending of how wealthy your zip code is. Somebody from up north coming from a wealthy zip code will not be pushed aside based on where she is coming from. If she is beautiful, and well spoken, and comes from a good family, private school, and has all the other criteria we are looking for, she is considered.

Where northern girls go wrong is that they are unfamiliar with our rush policies and procedures. This puts them at a disadvantage.

Southerners and northerners are both great. We do not think we are better than northerners just because we are from the south! But we do go to school in the south, not the north. I didn't want to leave the south for college. The North and the South are different in a lot of ways. It doesn't mean one is better than the other, it is just a matter of preference. I prefer the South. And yes, I have places not in the South many times. But I truly love it here. But I would not discriminate against a PNM or one of my sisters simply because she isn't where I'm from!!! Thats ridiculous. Being from the North shouldn't hurt anyone. It is harder to have connections though, which can affect your rush. What would hurt you is you being rude, mean, etc. Girls from anywhere can act that way. And all of them will get cut. But you shouldn't go into rush thinking that you are better than all of us just because you're from the North. Because you aren't. But we aren't better than you. So LET IT GO!! If you are from the North, you have just as good a chance to get into whatever sorority you want as a southern girl does!!! As long as you have a good GPA, good connections, good involvement, etc. Most girls in most houses aren't going to look at you and say "She's great! She has a 4.0, she's stunning, she was student body president, she played 3 sports, oh wait...she's from Michigan. Sorry we have to drop her."

I'm not surprised though. Small-mindedness obviously goes hand-in-hand with pitiful sat scores.....
