hanging out with sorority actives

by: pnm

If sorority actives invite you to hang out and offer you a drink, is okay to say no?

I personally don't want to get in trouble and disappoint my parents. I am not a goody to sho but y'all get what I mean.

Nobody is going to force you to drink! Nobody is going to judge you if you don't!

We will judge you if you sit there like a bump on a log while there is a party going on around you.

Not drinking - good
Being boring - bad

For the most part, we will just be sitting around drinking and trying to get to know you better.

If we head out to the bars, then yes, there will be dancing.

Better learn how to dance! In my sorority we have impromptu dance parties ALL THE TIME! If we are at a frat party or a bar and a song comes on that we all love, you will see us in the middle of the dance floor dancing are hearts out!

It's fine to say no to a drink. Active members will offer you one if they're drinking because they want you to feel comfortable. If you don't want one, just say no thank you. It is 100% okay to drink before rush as long as you stick to 1 or 2 drinks and don't make a fool of yourself. Just be sure to be social if you don't drink. As for dancing, there isn't a lot of dancing at the bars. Some girls will be dancing but maybe to just one or two songs. You can just dance in place a little to not be awkward. Just be yourself and have fun.

You can definitely say no to a drink! :) Just say that you don't like beer or you're watching yourself because you start dancing a lot when your drunk (or something funny or cute to make them giggle). You can also accept the drink but make sure you watch yourself! Don't get crazy.
You don't have to drink, but please don't sit there while we're having fun and trying to include you. You'll look boring and I might just go to the girl who's dancing next to me and dance with her instead (you don't have to be a good dancer, just be fun:))

I was invited by a group of actives to come to Oxford for the weekend and attend a spring party. (Several years ago when I was a hs senior)

There was a band, but nobody was dancing so I grabbed the girl who had invited me and started dancing with her. We were just hopping around and flipping our hair and being really stupid. Next thing I knew, about ten other girls in her sorority joined us. We danced all night and had a blast!

They were my first choice house and after that night I knew I would die if I didn't get a bid!

Throughout rush, every night one of the girls I had danced with picked me up at the door. When I was passed off to someone else, it was another girl I had danced with that night. We talked about how much fun that night was throughout rush!

I ran to these girls on bid day without ever having a second thought!

Just be stupid and dance! Create memories with us so we can't wait to give you a bid and do it again!

And yes, the girl who had invited me is now by big sis!

Nobody is going to blackball you for not being able to dance. But I would suggest you figure it out! You're missing out on a lot of fun!
