Occur about once a week or every two weeks for a month or two. We had 7 swaps last fall. They take place at local bars in oxford and have themes. Swaps are usually just with one other fraternity, but sometimes you have super swaps with another sorority and two fraternities. They do effect school work because you'll be out late and probably drink. But you don't have to go to them if you have an early class or test

I know for our sorority the bouncers have a list of our names and birthdays, so the ID we show them has to match a name on the list and the birthdays have to match. But if it's not that strict of a bar you can just get an older girl or a boy to buy you a drink. Or just pregame. It's really not that hard.

Yes, whole bars are rented out. Technically, no, if you are under 21, you are not allowed to drink and bartenders will not serve you. Typically if you show the bouncers at the door an ID that shows you are 21, they will give you a wrist band that tells the bartender that it's okay to serve you.
This doesn't stop underage drinking at pre-games held in private residences or in secret before the swap. It also doesn't stop somebody who is 21 from purchasing drinks for minors.
