legacies

NO ONE gets an automatic bid. Your mom and grandmother, etc. might have been president of that chapter, but that does not give you an automatic bid. It obviously helps your chances a ton and every girl in that sorority will know your name and face by heart when you walk in the door.. They will all be trying to impress you and want you to pledge.. But it isn't a guaranteed bid. Chapter legacy status won't negate a horrible GPA or horrible reputation. You still need to have a good resume, a good rush and get along with the actives to get a bid.

Houses want their legacies, especially chapter legacies. Say a girl is a triple KD ole miss legacy but pledges XO or something, it looks bad for KD. Quota will be like 170 this year or something. Yes there could be like 30 legacies accepting bids but there are lots of spots for non legacies too.

Chapter legacies are certainly at an advantage, but are not guaranteed a bid. Non chapter legacies are mostly viewed as a non legacy.

My mom, grandmother, 2 great aunts, 2 aunts, and a few cousins were all DG's a another school. I was cut first round from them! I had a high gpa, lots of activities and awards, leadership positions, and volunteer work. I was certainly not the prettiest girl going through rush, but I am pretty and skinny and I had killer outfits! I did end up in a top house. I actually preffed two top houses, but was cut from my legacy house (DG).

Don't get stressed out about something you have no control over! Just keep your options open and you will receive the perfect bid for you!
