theta on campus

So my mom was a Theta, she's in really good graces with her chapter. But I haven't exaxtly heard great things about them on campus. So I am keeping a very open mind because It would make my mom really happy if I prefd them (if they like me enough, I know I have to get a bid) but I am asking because i want to know, is Theta seen on campus that much in terms of greek life parties, philanthropy, and stuff? I read a few posts back that it's a diverse sorority as well? Could you just describe them as best you could in a positive light for me? Thanks I really appreciate it!

I heard good and bad things about Theta. I am transferring so my options are more limited than incoming freshman. However, I meet Thetas when I visited Ole Miss and they were wonderful representation of there sorority. I believe they are "bottom tier" because they are newer. I strongly believe it is important to erase the whole tier system out of your head as you approach rush week. Us PNMs can be cut for any reason and we won't have time to be upset about. I know for a hundred percent fact that ALL sororities on campus have the nice girls, mean girls, church girls, party girls, etc. Don't let negative opinions mold your own.
Go to Ole Miss. Visit the Theta house and talk to the girls.
I personally much rather have friendships with my sorority sisters when I am 50 years old in a "bottom" house than go top tier for my remaining college years.

That isn't what I meant AT ALL.
All I meant is that you can pretend to be something your not, go top tier, and fit in with their sisterhood and hate your sorority experience. Or you could be yourself and go where your meant to go and love your greek life experience.

Believe it or not, girls are actually happy in top tier sororities. There are all kinds of girls, it's not hard hard to fit in and find friends when your pledge class has 130+ members!

Oh my gosh... I already SAID that's not what I meant. Ive met girls in top tier sororites by my town WHO HATE their sorority. Ive met girls who love it and all in between. It's all about finding where you fit in and ignoring tiers.

Theta girls are really sweet and they are really diverse, which is awesome! Theta was not for me during rush, but I know a lot of Thetas who love love LOVE their sisters and house!!
Do what you want to do! If you LOVE Theta during rush, go with Theta. If you end up loving an other house, don't think about your mom. Your mom will not be the one spending 4 years with these girls, you should love them! You don't want to remember your sorority as "the house I joined because of my mom". Do what makes you happy because that's all that matters!

Any sorority, even top tier, allow girls the opportunity to make lifelong sisters! That is not something that only bottom tier houses have.
