The tv show Greek is not a very accurate portrayal of real greek life, just FYI. A few things are correct but a lot of things aren't really how it is being in a sorority/fraternity.

Not having connections will definitely set you back a bit since pretty much every girl in every sorority has girls coming through that they already know they want, but if you are involved and have a good personality you will get a house. It may not be your first choice or a "top tier" house, but you'll most likely get a bid somewhere. Usually the only people who get dropped by every single house have really bad grades or they have a really bad reputation. Sometimes girls go through not knowing a soul and do get a "top tier" house or their first choice, but don't get your hopes up about it. Just make sure you get a rec to every single house whether it's from an Ole Miss alumni or not. If you can get a letter(s) from an Ole Miss alum then get it, but it's definitely not necessary. Houses like to have diversity. They like to have girls from MS, but they also want some girls from out of state and out of the south too. So being from NY won't hurt you. Some southern or MS girls may have a little advantage since they know a lot of girls already, but you should be fine!
