I am planning on attending ole miss next fall and want to rush, i have heard that being in a soroity is very time consuming, but I plan to get a job too, do you know if that's possible or will I mostly be doing things that involve my chapter if I get a bid. It will be very hard to have a job the fall semester of your freshman year. Rush is a week long process and there is no time to work. Period. Theta encore, a philanthropic competition, begins right after you pledge a sorority. This requires practice at least 3 days a week for a couple of weeks. You have chapter every week and new member meetings for the first semester. It's very time consuming. You will really just have to wait and see what your class schedule is like and whatnot. It can be done but it's difficult and can make life too hectic.

Lots of my sisters have jobs. HOWEVER, don't get a job during fall semester. It's your first semester at college, you should be making friends and getting situated into this new setting. You just joined your sorority and you want to make some friends and be a part of it, don't have a job when you're trying to get used to it. It's time consuming, but it's very possible to get a job. Just wait til spring or the year afterwards to get a job.

If you join a sorority as a freshmen, you will really not have time to have a job, too. You will have NO time for anything other than sorority activities and school. Also keep in mind that being a sorority member is very expensive!! If you are on a tight budget, being in a sorority might be more than you can afford. I am sorry and I promise that I am not trying to be a b#tch. This is the truth.

I've had a job throughout college- including my freshman fall semester. As long as you have good time management skills, it won't be too bad. Sometimes it gets stressful because of the time commitments, but needing a job is no reason to not rush.
