bid day?

by: greeknewbie

Anyone who went through rush at Ole Miss , can you please tell me what to expect? This may sound like a silly question but I can't find any information on it. How do you know if you are getting a bid or not? Do the sororities just call you or do they announce your name on bid day?

is one of the most planned out and anticipated days of your life.
if you are completely cut/released from rush you recieve a call or visit from your Gamma chi letting you know that you won't need to participate in the days activities. but if you recieve a bid, you'll meet in the grove with every other pnm and watch the gamma chi reveal. that's when your gamma chi reveals what sorority she's in. then you'll meet in your gamma chi group and they will distribute bid cards. once receiving your card and opening it, you'll then run to your new home with all the other girls and you'll recieve a shirt with your new letters on it and you'll be greeted by all the active members and get to meet girls in your pledge class

Why would someone get released from rush? Does that happen often?

And my last question, on average how many girls get cut?

I'm really scared to go through rush week but I want to be in a sorority really bad.

75% of girls that rushed pledged a sorority this year. So 400 out of 1600 were either cut completely or didn't accept their bid.

this is good information! I'm a transfer student and I have really high grades and involvement. Hopefully, a house will take a chance on me!

Being a transfer student is going to hurt you! Keep your options open!

We don't have an upper class quota.

If you're a sophomore, you can be okay. If you're a junior....well...good luck. We only have one junior in my sorority's new PC and she had very very strong connections.

I'm definitely NOT being picky. My options are very limited. I know the top tier houses aren't going to give me a second glance. I will probably be a sophomore with how my classes transfer. Needless to say, I will be at Ole Miss longer than 2 years. Do you think that would be worth mentioning or no?
