Hi I was wondering if it would be hard to get into a top tier sorority(or any sorority) being that I'm not from a southern state. I know that everyone talks about how connections are really important, but being that I'm from the Midwest that seems nearly impossible. I do however have several fashion connections from interning with Kansas city fashion week. Would that be something I should mention during rush?

You will most likely get a bid, maybe not a top house, but there are still plenty of good houses to choose from.

If you're not from Mississippi and don't have any connections there is no way you will get into a top sorority. Have fun with theta

No need to be rude! Phi mu, kappa, pi phi, aopi, theta, ADPi, and next year alpha phi, will all be options for somebody from out of town with no connections.

This is one of the most rude posts I've ever seen on this site. First of all, only the top 3-4 sororities care whether or not you're from the south. Secondly, there is ZERO reason to bash a sorority--especially based on where its members are from. So disrespectful.

It will be difficult to get into a top tier but mentioning Kansas fashion week won't hurt your chances. Sororities are just like high school cliques, so the fashion week thing could help get you in. Just don't brag about it when mentioning it.

Mention it out of the blue. If asked about hobbies or any fun things you've done, you can mention interning for fashion week. But don't flaunt it because it isn't that special

It's possible you could get into a top sorority, but you will really have to stand out. Appearance and personality wise. If you don't make a top sorority there are plenty other great mid range ones. The fashion week thing would be great to mention when discussing your interests, but be careful not to sound like you're bragging.
