rush
by: PnmWhen should I start asking for Rec letters and preparing for rush? I don't want to ask too early and they forget, but I don't want to ask too late either. Thanks!

But I didn't start gathering my rec letters until the May before I came to ole miss. The deadline for rec letters to be turned in for most houses is July-August. (These individual dates are on each sorority's website) The best way to get on a house's radar, is to get in touch with the girls you know in sororities at ole miss. Come to spring events like Old South and Woodstock. That's a great way to meet people. My sorority has been gathering PNM's names for weeks now, so chances are if you know a few sorority actives at ole miss, your name has been submitted.

can you explain what you mean by different houses having different ways of processing? should i be worried about this or does the house take care of it all? is the only thing i have to do is ask an alumni to write a rec and thats it? (I'm really new to this sorority thing I'm sorry!!!)

How each organization handles recs is very private information. Not something for you to worry about. All you need to do is find sorority alumnae for each chapter at Ole Miss and ask very politely if they would consider writing a letter of recommendation for you. They will know what to do or be able to find out from their sorority how to submit the rec correctly.

Old south is KA's spring formal, not a spring party that everyone is invited to! Hayseed is their spring party. Please don't give out advice if you don't know what you are talking about!
For those girls coming from out of state, who don't know any actives, it is crucial to get their recs in as early as possible. So far we have only identified those girls we all know from our hometowns. Recs will let is know about the rest.
Freshmen, don't give out advice until you have experienced rush from the other side, you will be shocked when you find out the truth about how pledge classes are picked!
