spring parties
by: hotty toddyLots of my friends have been telling me I should come up to Oxford for spring parties.. I'm a senior in high school right now. What should I expect at these parties?? I want to go but I have heard I need to "behave" until rush?? Thoughts?? Sorry this may be a dumb question...

Absolutely go! I went my senior year of high school and it was a great way for me to meet people and learn about each organization on campus. Just don't over do it; take it easy but still have fun! Just don't be sloppy. This is a great way to meet more people and put a good word in for yourself.

Woodstock! Epic!
Gator bash-okay
Ivy League - fun
South seas - fun
Hayseed - disappointing.
For most girls, going to these parties is more about networking with sorority actives and less about actually partying. Keep it clean, no boys and no throwing up! Make a food impression and you will find yourself in a good position heading into recruitment.

Definitely go!! Especially if you're rushing, you'll meet some of the girls and they'll see you other than a rec letter. Remember:
1) You will be watched and harshly judged because you're in high school if you act crazy.
2) Do NOT flirt with any boys that seem to be with girls. Stay safe and don't try to get "too close" with them. You don't know who they are, who they're with, and who they have been with.
3) Watch your alcohol. Drink - have fun! - but don't get sloppy.
4) Sororities/Frats will be watching you. Don't be sloppy, don't act loose, and don't break anything. I'm serious about the don't break anything part, believe it or not frats have a blacklist for girls who disrespect their house or their members (same goes for sororities).
5) Don't wear letters. ANY letters. You're not in college yet. Even if you're going through rush for a sorority I don't recommend you wear frat letters. If you're not going through rush, don't do it. Some frats might not like it.
6) HAVE FUN!! I know these are a lot of rules but everyone must follow them. You will be watched because you're in high school and you don't want to start a bad reputation early.
