Don't intimidate this person. Not everyone is expert on rush..do you understand that? That's why she's here, asking the question. For some people, this experience is brand new. Anyway, the question being asked is whether she ranks all five or just two going forward.

Lol the question being asked is if she can get a bid from houses that dropped her. To which the answer is an obvious no.

To WTF: OBVIOUSLY...she's not asking about houses that drop her. She's asking IF MORE THAN TWO DO have her on their lists, would she default to the 3rd, 4th or 5th if they kept her.

The fact that she is asking about getting a bid vs being released from recruitment means she is asking about how things work during bid matching after pref.

But yes, if she's talking about the transition from skit night to pref then she ranks her top 2 and based on how all 5 houses ranked her there are 3 outcomes, she can either be:

-invited back to pref for two houses (these don't necessarily have to be her top two)
-invited back to pref for just one house (this also doesn't necessarily have to be one of her top two)
-released from recruitment

It's just like any other invitational round, which is also why I didn't get the question in the first place.

Yes! If your top two you ranked cut you after tonight then I'll go by the 3 you cut. As long as atleast one house invites you back to pref you will get a bid.

Okay honestly I wasn't really sure what you were asking which is why I asked what. Here's the actual deal:

-You rank your houses.
-You are matched based on how the houses rank you and how you ranked them. You may get to go back to your top two houses or you may not. It depends on how they rank you.
-On pref you rank the two houses for which you attended preference ceremonies.
-The vast majority of the time one of these houses will be the one to give you a bid. Unless you are released from recruitment you don't get to get a bid from any of the other three.
-Now here's where it starts to get complicated. Before you get released from the two houses you preffed, if you maximized your options (attended all parties you were invited to and ranked all houses that you were invited to) you will be eligible for a quota addition at one of the two houses you preffed. not the other three.
-In the rare case that neither of the houses you preffed offers you a bid, you will be released from recruitment.
-In the case that you are released from recruitment, you are eligible for a snap bid from any house that has not met quota. Usually snap bids are given to friends of members of the chapter though so this is a really long shot.

Does that make sense? You're not going to match into a house you didn't pref unless you get released from recruitment and you end up being offered a snap bid.

by quota addition I mean that you weren't going to receive a bid from either house you preffed because you were lower on their list but bc you maximized your options the system wants to match you somewhere if possible. This is why people are saying that like 99% of people who attend pref will get bids. I don't know if the actual number is 99% of people who attend pref, but it is very high.

The point is, if you attend pref, it is highly likely you will get a bid at one of the houses that preffed you. You would have to have extra special circumstances to get a snap bid at a house you didn't pref after being released from recruitment (getting no bid). It's just not going to happen.

How many girls do the chapters have to cut after skit before pref to get the numbers down to a managable size for a pledge class?

This depends on how houses have done in the past and how many girls traditionally rank them #1. If a house has a high number of pnms ranking it #1 so is more popular among pnms ranking after pref, then my that Panhellenic will tell that house to invite less people to pref. If a house has less people ranking it #1 (so more people ranking it #2) then that house has to invite more people in order to make quota.

So the rushes rank and then get asked back to the houses based on who didn't cut them? It's not the same as when they got to rank 3 houses.

It's just the same as in other rounds. You rank the houses and the houses rank you. Who you get asked back by is determined by how those lists match up and how many people each house is allowed to ask back for preference. Your ranking of the houses counts, as do the rankings the houses make of the PNMs.

Nope, they won't see it and they won't know. I'm pretty sure the only people who see any lists are the recruitment officers/advisors who hand in the chapter's lists and maybe some greek life/panhel people, I forget how the stuff the PNMs hand in is handled, sorry. But we don't do bid matching by hand anymore (a computer does it) so I think the advisors shouldn't know where you ranked the houses on your own personal list.

It's great that you like all 5 houses you were invited to for skit! That means you'll most likely be really happy on bid day! :D

the only way they will know is if they know they ranked you high on their list and you don't come back or get a bid meaning you ranked other houses before them who you mutually matched with but we all know that happens during recruitment and while actives can be sad over that no one is going to be mad at you because of it

if you rank your skit houses 1 to 5 and get invited back to the houses you ranked 4 and 5... and then rank house 4 before house 5 after pref... but still get a bid to house 5 (which you ranked lowest on both skit and pref) no one will know how you ranked them and you will still be happy during bid day

I will say this rushee has the attitude that all rushees should have, though. If you like all 5, then you're in good shape come bid day!
