So there's one chi o alumni who keeps calling me AND my mom asking how my recruitment is going. She keeps asking me who my favorite house is and asking me if I want her to go to bat for me in the house. She told my mom that she has pull as she is an in-house recruitment advisor. She told me that my name is already on a bid day bag and all I have to do is put chi o first. She actually told me that I've been on their slide show since March and every chi O knows who I am.
Isn't this dirty rushing? I feel bad because there is actually another house that I like better. Should I lie and say chi O is my favorite so I don't get dropped?
Rush is turning out to be not as much fun as I had hoped. It all seems so political.

Really? You must be super awesome to have an alumni wanting you SO bad. That's a big news flash as it's really unusual for any rush advisor to be so involved in a girl's rush. You must be A+ prime top quality. Go you! I'd be more interested in if the girls want you as that is who you will spend your time with. So if you are really being rushed by an advisor (again, who does this?) go with where you want. I promise the XOs or any other houses where you're being rushed by an adult, not a future sister, won't mind if you find a place where you fit.

Sure It's dirty rushing especially this year when alumni are supposed to be following the silence rules as well as the actives. But ole miss alumni run the roost around here. They do what they please and actives rarely have any say so. Don't think the actives who have been rushing you all summer have any pull. If you are not on the alumni list, you are not getting a bid.
To the op. If you are on the slide show, I'd say you already have alumni support. Why rock the boat now. Just be happy, you are luckier than most.

So - sweet PNMs reading GreekRank. Please go back to your rooms and think about where your felt at home. There are a few crazies who think our rushees are dumb enough to believe anything on this site. Breathe. Reflect on your time at each house. Realize alumni have little pull at most houses, that's urban legend material. If no alumni is pestering you to pledge their house, realize NO ONE DOES THAT. It's just some wacko posting on this site.

Oops, hit submit to soon. I see you did want to be kind to the alum who likes you. But she doesn't get to choose, the actives do. You may be her perfect rushee, but it's the girls in house who make that decision, sorry about it alumni! So it won't hurt anyone's feelings if you go where you want, I promise. Just drop asap as there are others who want that spot.
