How much does your GPA really matter when going through sorority rush?

i don't wanna say GPA is the only thing that matters....but it matters more than anything else in MOST cases. With so many girls it is the first thing we look at to make cuts so its easier to choose between girls. Every house no matter the "tier" cuts for grades first because we don't wanna be on probation for taking too many grade risks. if you have 2.8-2.99 then you better have MULTIPLE girls and advisors/alum/rush team member willing to fight for you during bid rounds, and thats if the house is one that still let girls go to bat for pnms

It's a little too late to drop a class, sweet pea. :(
BUT! If you're going into rush as a sophomore/junior and you drop a class before the "drop date" or before you're officially failing (if you're failing the class, when you drop it failing grade stays), then go for it! Just make sure you have enough hours to be considered a full time student.
If it's fall semester and you're going into rush, we don't look at those grades yet. By the time the sorority gets your fall semester grades, you'll already be in the sorority. I really don't know what you're asking but I hope I gave you an idea of what to do

no, your best bet would be to get to know girls in the sophomore class (since that will be the pledge class that rushes the most and who will be picking looking for littles) especially from your hometown. Don't force it because this will only come back to bite you if you don't actually fit in with them, be yourself and ask these girls questions about classes, pre-rush, and if they ask you to go out with them or something do it. this is how you will know where you will be at home and a girl will genuinely do everything possible to get you invited back to every round. in some cases girls will go to the rush chair and be like look this is her case, awesome girl but not so awesome grades but she is right for our chapter and the rush chair will take a look and decide if she agrees and will fight for her as well. It's tough and there is still no guarantee but never give up if you really want it and remember things happen for a reason!

I know it's been talked about several times in this discussion but just to be clear, if you have a 2.9 high school GPA your chances at rushing successfully are...? I'm know it says that 2.8-2.9 is yellow zone on the website but I know girls who are currently in sororitys at ole miss will be able to tell me for sure

If you have a 2.9 gpa, with or without connections, you can plan on being cut from 5 to 6 houses right off the bat. Will you receive a bid, more than likely yes, but you will need to keep your options open and know your choices will be limited.

thank you! To me being apart of any sorority at ole miss is an accomplishment and an honor. I know I'll be happy in the one I end up with :)
