out of state transfer rush ??

by: ??

I know ole miss rush is super competitive. Would a lot of houses immediately cut me for being out of state and a sophomore transfer? I will have about a 3.6-3.7 gpa, and I’m from Texas if that helps. How difficult would rush be in my situation?? This is a big factor in considering If I will for sure choose ole miss because I know it’s a school you definitely want to be Greek at.. I know some current seniors in good houses there that will be graduated when I go but I won’t know anyone who will be there when I’m rushing.

Being an upperclassman definitely doesn’t help, but it’s still possible to get into a good sorority. I know a girl who transferred to bama as a junior and she got into a upper middle sorority. When you get to ole miss just try to meet girls in the sorority you’re interested in or maybe you might want to contact a sorority member on social media to let them know your interest.

Bama rush has nothing to do with Ole Miss rush. Does Ole Miss have a separate upperclassmen quota?

My sorority would not cut you for being a transfer student. If you do come to ole miss, give it a shot. I was a transfer student who rushed.

Out of state vs. in-state doesn't matter. The debate is legacy vs. no legacy. Even, top houses are about half (or more) out of state.

Top houses (DDD, KD, XO) won't even look at you. Honestly, you'll have more luck being drafted in this year's NBA draft then a top house.

Mid houses (KKG, DG, PhiMU, PiPhi) it's super hard to get into as a transfer. You'd have to be a legacy but more important you'd have to essentially be a sister already to get in as a transfer. What I mean by "sister already" is be a freshman here that didn't rush, but knows and talks to all the girls in the house.

Bottom houses (Aphi, adpi, aopi) do take transfer girls. But know you aren't their first priority. You'll have to impress and do better than the others.

Also, "I know ole miss rush is super competitive" isn't true at all. If you a legacy or strong home town connections you are automatically top tier. It's like going to a restroom in a public setting. There is a Women's and a Men's, you know which one you belong to.

Adding onto that, NOT ALL of them are LEGACIES. I’m pretty sure most sororities take half legacies and the other half non legacies... It’s still possible to get in without connections, if you have a strong resume, rich or good looking.
