serious question, why is everyone transferring??

I'm not kidding, I just viewed 3 insta stories in a row that said they were transferring. I'm only friends with one, the other two I've talked to once or twice. Thought it was a joke going around today, but I asked the one and she was serious.
Also noticed there was a HUGE amount of people that transferred between fall and spring semester. And a HUGE amount of people that did study abroad.
Why is everyone leaving? Just makes me a bit sad.
I'm in a mid tier house, so we do have drops, but I'm not too sad when a girl drops because we remain friends and she'll still go here. But I don't get it, why's everyone leaving?
