oos houses
by: confused
So let me get this straight... If you’re from out of state (or just unconnected in general), you won’t get into any of the top houses and you probably won’t even get into the middle houses, even if your grades are excellent and your involvement is great. So that means you’re in the bottom houses which would be composed of most of the unconnected girls. So how come, even if all these great girls are here, those houses have low GPAs and other issues? OR, do many unconnected girls get a middle house and mainly low grades / reputation problems get a bottom house?
Im genuinely curious because I see lots of conflicting info on here

You are going to have to ignore most of what is being posted on this site. Currently there is one sorority that is just trying really hard to GreekRank themselves up the tiers and they are in general just very negative and insecure.
It is true there are sororities that are mostly made up of Ole Miss/Mississippi connected members/legacies. They are great sororities and tend to be considered the 'top' tiers. It is very difficult for someone without connections to receive a bid from these sororities, however it's not impossible - just improbable.
Next there are sororities that are made up of stronger resumed OOS/non connected members. They are great sororities and tend to be considered the 'middle' tiers. They will also have their own legacy connected members and are more diverse than the more Ole Miss connected/legacy sororities.
Next we have the two newer sororities - they will take time to build up. They tend to recruit the people who might be left after GPA cuts or whose resumes might not have been as strong as some of the others. They are great sororities and although they might be considered 'bottom' tier, they offer a fun greek life experience.
Honestly from what I understand, every campus has some system of 'ranking' sororities, so I don't think Ole Miss is unique. Whatever concerns you have for Ole Miss recruitment, you will face the same thing at every college you will consider.
