legacy rush

Being a legacy does NOT guarantee you anything, unless maybe you have a bio sister currently in the house. A mom, sister or grandmother who was an XYZ at another school is not going to count for a lot. It will get you a courtesy invitation to 2nd parties, but maybe not a lot more depending on the house. Be open to ALL of the chapters and be happy for whatever invitations you get.

This is not true. It is true that legacy status at OM is more often than not guaranteed to OM legacies. There are so many girls who don’t get into their legacy house so keep an open mind! But ALL sororities are favorable to girls who are legacies of any sorority because it helps with retention- their families tend to be very supportive emotionally and financially of Greek life. They will take notice of legacies so PUT IT DOWN!!!

Some of the sororities on campus do try to give legacies every possible consideration, I think those sororities have a better sense of the greater sisterhood. However there are some that being a legacy doesn't mean crap. The only thing that matters is if your mommies went to school together and/or you went to some Podunk Mississippi High School.

Don't even worry about it. Because it's not just legacy - it's legacy and connection. Legacy will more than likely get you an extra "look" at the house, and the house an extra "look" at you. However, don't get too tied up in what that means and don't think that because you've been invited back to your legacy house first round that it means anything more than national courtesy. Don't let it influence your judgement with other houses...in other words, keep an open mind and don't stress about what goes on behind the scenes that is really none of your concern anyway.

The people who do best with rush are those who come in with no preconceived notions and go with the flow. Be that person. It's the girls who come in convinced they know everything about every house, or that they know exactly where they are going to go, that wind up the most stressed out, anxious and disappointed.
