just the numbers

Well for the curious - here's the size of each sorority based on the end of the year Fall 2018 totals: Chi-O 435; DG 425; KD 422; DDD 416; Phi Mu 411; KKG 405; AOPi 403; Pi Phi 398; ADPi 389; Alpha Phi 386.
So Chi-O is still the biggest sorority even after three years of variable quota. Phi Mu is gaining on DDD, and KKG and AOPi and getting closer in size.

How is Chi-O still the biggest when they have had the smaller variable quota numbers for the past three years. From what I understand Chi-O, KD and DDD have had the same quota since VQ started. Is Panhellenic actually enforcing their quota numbers? It makes sense for DG to have higher numbers since they've had larger quota than the other three listed. The numbers do seem to be slowly evening out for the middle tiers but still - that's a bigger gap between Chi-O and ADPi & Alpha Phi than should be considering Aphi and ADPi have had almost double the VQ advantage.

12% difference between biggest and smallest - if I did that right. Not terrible.
I would guess that retention plays a big role in that difference. And that whole Mississippi network thing impacts retention big time in those top 3 - a plus in this case. I also don't actually think variable quota is over nor do I think it was expected to even things out in 3 years.
That said I don't remember the original numbers when we first instituted variable quota so I could be 100% wrong. I wonder if they ever ran models predicting how long it would take for variable quota to even things out?

Interestingly if you look at the numbers from when Variable Quota started to now, KD has 46 members less than they had after Fall 16, DDD had 40 less, but Chi-O is only 18 less. Seems odd for that big of a difference considering Spring 16 they were within 7 members of each other with DDD the larger.
If you look at the mid tiers, which had a slightly larger VQ, averaging 20 to 25 than the Chi-O, DDD and KD VQ - Phi Mu has 15 less members, AOPi has 21 less members, DG has 22 less members, KKG has 34 less members and Pi Phi has 47 less members.
Of course VQ did help the two new sororities ADPi and Alpha Phi, with both of those sororities increasing their members numbers - ADPi with an increase of 26 since Variable Quota started and Alpha Phi with an increase of 82.
Unfortunately VQ did not help Theta survive.
In seems odd that Chi-O is still hanging closer to their original numbers with a supposedly lower VQ.
