by: dddIm a DDD legacy but I live far OOS and haven't been to Oxford since I was little. Just curious about what DDD is even like these days since I know it's changed since my mom was here

My aunt was a Tri-Delta here years ago and based on what she's told me about the chapter then and girls I know there today, I don't think it's changed much. It's been a top tier, desired chapter pretty much always (2nd sorority founded at OM). And I really don't think chapter personalities change that much based on having many relatives in houses here through the years - aunts and cousins, all in different houses (Tri-Delta, Chi O, Kappa).
Even though you are a chapter legacy, you need to get to know girls here to have a good shot at getting back to parties past the "courtesy invitation" you will get as a legacy (all legacies get this, by the way, not just chapter legacies). Always a few girls who get in without connections (legacy or not) but I'd work to get to know girls now. So many legacies, both OM and non-OM, rush these days that chapters could fill an entire pledge class with them. And with variable quota, even OM legacies are getting cut from the most competitive houses.
I wish you luck and most of all, I hope you will be open to every house, not just your legacy house. Tri-Delta might be a fit for you, even if it's the same personality as when your mom was here, and it might not.

Older sorority here so lots of legacies. Very random mix due to this. Definitely don't appeal to everyone but most are sweet. Older sororities are considered harder to get into due to having the most legacies ((KD, DG, DDD, XO). However, I knew a lot of girls who ranked DDD low.

My daughter absolutely loves it-she’s in the newest pledge class and has been over the moon ever since Bid Day. All the girls have been incredibly kind and welcoming. But let me put your mind at ease-not only is she OOS, we live out of the country due to her Daddy’s job. They do accept girls that are not native to MS. I feel it does help to have letters of rec from several affiliated the sorority you’d like to join, and if possible get to know some of the girls who are currently there, but above all else-just be yourself. It is a process but one worth taking a little extra time to invest in to make the most out of your experience! Best wishes to you!
