greek day
by: greek#2by: Not KD
I have leukemia and have had it for over two years I’m obviously healthy enough to be in college and it’s been a dying wish of mine to be in a sorority at ole miss where I am loved and accepted no matter my health situation. I have never been so embarrassed/ashamed when a KD commented on the fact she could tell I was wearing a wig. When I explained my situation(which I did not want to get into at any houses) she put her hand over her mouth and giggled. I’m so distraught over this and I have talked to my gamma chi about dropping it of rush completely bc I am mortified and scared of what other houses will say to me about something I have no control over

I agree with you. I, too, have a legitimate illness and I’m in shock that somebody would fake that to bring another person down. But I wouldn’t be so sure to make it out that everyone would go above an beyond for somebody who is sick. I went through rush post chemo but still sick(seemed very healthy on the outside) and once I got into my sorority (which was my top choice) I did start to learn that some houses will not want sick people bc quite honestly don’t want a death...it’s sad but it’s ok. I love ole miss and all of the houses and I still think it’s sickening of somebody to make a fake story...I really hope it isn’t true but I know for personal experience that being sick does not mean that all houses will go above and beyond for you. No matter how high your GPA is or your connections.
