how have rankings changed so much?
by: ConfusedWhen I was a PNM in 2015, Chi O was #1, followed by DDD then KD. DG and Kappa were basically same level. Now you have rankings on here saying Chi O is in 3rd, 4th, or 5th. Almost every ranking has DG 3rd or tied for 2nd with DDD. Some poeple were saying KD fell off last year with their “worst pledge ever” and now they’re apparently sitting pretty at #1. Lol. Top tiers like to make it seem that they’re content within themselves but they’ are the main ones fighting and keeping the tier talk going. Seems like a lot of insecurity coming from Ole Miss’ “best”.

Surprised the mom accuser isn't the first response like she always is LOL.
Imo there isn't any more top tier houses here any more, when you pick your class based almost entirely on legacy and a few spots for strong home town connections, how can you say you are top tier and picking the best girls??
Yeah yeah I get the give preference for legacies and hometown girls but at other schools if you have a great PNM you have a good shot at a top tier house, here you don't.
The only ones that care about top houses are girls/moms with nothing else going on in their lives so they need to convince people they are in a top house for self validation. I am sure there are top house girls that love it, but the ones I've met were all between a "eh, it's ok" to "it's overrated" to "I'd drop but my mom would disown me"

XO hasn’t been considered top since I’ve been exposed to OM (when I was in high school). Actually I don’t know if there is one sorority at the top. Typically the most difficult ones to pledge are KD, DDD, DG and XO. But this is only because they have the most OM legacies, not necessarily because they take the best PNMs every year. Think about it, if half of your pledge class are legacies, then there aren’t very many spots left. There are so many great PNMs and they are spread out among all sororities. Don’t get caught up in the tier talk.

The second poster on this thread is on a recent posting spree and spends a lot of time on this site. I have no idea if she is a mom or a student, but the information is inaccurate and the obsession with speaking negatively of other groups is scary. Her posts have the same inaccurate information every time. It’s evident she has an axe to grind.
To answer the OP’s question, all 4 are great and highly desired as are the rest of the sororities at Ole Miss. Rankings are entirely subjective. I knew PNMs who only wanted Kappa or only wanted KD or only wanted DG and on and on. PNMs tend to gravitate toward he sororities they have friends in or the sororities that make them feel special. I agree with the previous poster that the older sororities (DDD, DG, XO, KD) have more legacies naturally. Therefore, they have fewer spots for non-legacies. This doesn’t mean they get “better” PNMs—it just means they have to cut more girls and can be more difficult for nonlegacies to get bids to.

The traditional tier system worked when Ole Miss was overwhelmingly mississippi students. But the school is changing quickly, you have a lot more OOS and OOR girls coming in. So for some, how they define "top" is changing as well. Simple as that.
That said, I think every house on campus is amazing. Can't we all just get along?

When it comes to the traditional MS houses, we honestly get along and love each other to death because ALL OF OUR FRIENDS are in these houses (typically). The group of girls we've been friends with since middle school are split into those houses, and more and more are also in Kappa and Phi Mu, sometimes even Alpha Phi! So we're not the ones hating on each other because someone we consider family is wearing those letters. Now who might actually be bashing them? A girl from a tiny town or school (in state) OR a girl from OOS that doesn't know other people in other sororities, and thus thinks her sorority is the end al be all of life at Ole Miss. In reality...it's probably old alums, moms, or just strangers that check this site for kicks and giggles. Hell, I could be one...it's anonymous. But it's ridiculous to believe that certain sororities are hateful or always bash another group, because if you TRULY go here, you have a bestie in almost every other house.

WHY does everyone want to keep blaming 'pathetic old ladies' and 'land of the fighting moms'? When in reality, the girls in the top tier bashing sororities are mostly legacies and they think just like their mothers and are most likely the ones spewing tent talk!!
And yes, we all have friends in almost every house on campus and some of them can be considered best friends and even family BUT deep down, secretly, and not so secretly we love our own house and think it's the best and we feel better when others get 'ranked' below us. Period.
