some questions from a transfer student

by: aylmao

Hi,

Not all of this is related to Greek life but regardless maybe some of you can help. I'll be moving in Tuesday to RH2. I'm a transfer student from Jones County Junior College, but before that I lived in Virginia. I know almost no one at Ole Miss.

SO

1. How hard would it be to get a bid in Spring rush? I'm a social guy who has no problem getting along with others, but like I said I'm not from in-state and I am a sophomore already. Plus I'm somewhat liberal and have never been a big sports guy. I lift weights and did track/field in high school but that's it. I know this is broad but I'm just looking for some general answers.

2. How hard is it to get into the party scene if you don't rush? Or find a group of friends? This has really been bothering me lately.

Would appreciate any info. Thanks!

so you moved from virginia to go to Jones County Junior College? lol.

mostly lower houses do spring rush. and you're a soph which makes it even harder. but it's easier for guys than girls. and without knowing anyone it's like shooting yourself in the foot again (3rd time for you).

with that said, go for it, you got nothing to lose

most guys are into sports as in watching not playing. most are your typically 35 year old dad bods. there really ins't a "party scene", hints why everyone goes through rush. it's either the bars if your a soph or older; or frat parties for mostly freshman, some sophomores. and it's hard AF to get into either of those scenes if you aren't part of a sorority/frat. very close minded places. they don't just talk to randoms

You will be fine. Pay no attention to the losers on this site that post nasty replies to legitimate questions. Find out which frats are having a spring rush and go from there. You should be able to find a home.... Also, use every opportunity you have to make new friends when you get here.,class, join clubs, the dorm. Don't be afraid to put yourself out there. Good luck to you.,I hope that you will love Ole Miss. Most do.It really is a great place with so many wonderful people. The exceptions to that usually are unhappy bitter losers that post their grievances on this site.
