kappa

Completely just curious, a girl who went to my high school out of state is a Kappa here. I was super surprised that they get ranked middle tier, she is seriously the complete package. What is Kappa like at Ole Miss?

They are a cute, fun, social middle tier sorority here at Ole Miss.

Ole Miss has a lot of sorority that are really good!!!!

There are a lot of girls that are the complete package!!! And that's good.

There are just sororities that have been her long and have the advantage of having the older traditions!

Ole miss has a great greet strong Greek system.

Tiers are kinda dated.

well complete package at your high school means little here. my boyfriend was honors, and captain of our high school team. has a 3.2 here and is graduating this year. is he going to the nfl? no. is even on the football team here? also, no.

tier's really don't exist now since quotas. before variable quota top tiers use to fill their legacies and have some room to get some of the best girls. since quotas, top tiers can barely get all their legacies. tiers now just means if you are legacy or not, or if you went to a high school with a lot of top tier girls or not. most of the best girls end up in what you would call a middle tier

Honestly a great resume doesn't necessarily make a difference with sorority recruitment. I was Homecoming Queen, Class President, had a 3.5+ GPA, and had won a few pageants - and I was cut from the "top" tiers during the first round. I was chosen by what is considered a 'Lower Middle' Tier and at first it really bothered me - but then as I got to know the girls in my sorority I discovered there were lots of former Homecoming Queens, Cheerleaders, Class Presidents, etc. We were just OOS students or Mississippi girls who weren't from the 'right' high schools or had Ole Miss connections. My point is not to bash what is considered the top tiers, but hopefully future PNMs will understand that all of the Ole Miss sororities have "top tier" girls. Not saying that I am a top tier girl but I am surrounded by them. This year I noticed more OOS girls coming to my sorority as legacies and they were WANTING my sorority, so as more time passes there will be stronger connections to all of the Ole Miss sororitys.

Every house here is full of "complete package" girls. Almost every freshman girl going through rush has a high GPA, is beautiful, was a cheerleader / HoCo Queen/ Class President, etc.

The biggest factor in where girls pledge is their legacy status (and chapter legacies are preferred- ie, mom was an Ole Miss KD) and their connections. OOS girls are usually at a disadvantage re: top tiers if they don't have one or both going for them.
