Why do you all bash the moms constantly? Are YOU paying your dues? Or are your parents? Such spoiled brats. None of you bashing moms or other sororities deserve to be a part of any sisterhood. You give yourself and every sorority bad rep. I'm thankful I have my mom supporting me and encouraging me. Over this mom bashing crap.
#14by: Alpha Phi warning
Y’all can sit here and laugh at self-ranking, and you should. But you also should be aware that sometimes comments about how a sorority is doing are not self-ranking, but people noticing houses slipping or rising.
A few other women have commented on Alpha Phi nationals and how they should not be underestimated.
Y’all would do well to heed those warnings.
This is not a post for the girls at Ole Miss that post here, mostly because y’all will laugh and call me a mom and ignore everything I have to say, but if we’re honest this site is at least half alumnae and moms anyway so listen to me as I say this.
Alpha Phi nationals is the most put together and aggressive sorority when it comes to expanding and recruitment. Bar none.
The first time I noticed that Alpha Phi was not here to play games is when my sorority was the heavy favorite to be chosen to expand at a flagship school. We had a wonderful presentation and while we gave it our all, we were confident we would be chosen due to many factors.
Alpha Phi, despite having few to no connections or history in the area, blew us away. We were dumbfounded. They had done the most research, had the best strategy, had the best presentation. They were easily chosen and we were left in the cold. Our nationals was furious and frankly, embarrassed.
The second time is when an Alpha Phi chapter at a different school, one that had not been around for long, swept a middle-tier chapter of our GLO at recruitment. Took so many of that chapter’s top girls out of nowhere. They were blindsided as to how a newer chapter could grab so many girls that were coveted by that chapter.
Their chapters in other areas are doing fantastic, and so they are focusing their energy on big Southern schools and Ivy leagues, and frankly in almost all instances are doing far better than expected.
Let’s look at UT. Strong, strong Greek school with so much history, and tiers that (allegedly) cannot move up or down. Alpha Phi has been there since the 20s and yet many alumnae forget they were even there. They were invisible, a non-entity. Alpha Phi decided they wanted to play with the big girls, sent their best advisors in, renovated the house, and in a manner of years, the ONLY chapters (out of 14) that are ranked better than them were the historic top six, and of those six, they can poach top OOS girls from DDD, Zeta, and Chi O if they want to, and even can grab some of the girls from the best private schools in Dallas/Houston. The only three sororities completely unthreatened by them are Kappa, Theta, Pi Phi.
Over at Stanford, they don’t even have a house (!!!) and yet have demoted one particular sorority from top tier to middle (who has a house), and there are only two sororities they can’t steal girls from at this point. They started above many long established chapters, and have made the other new sorority look like child’s play.
