y'all are ridiculous

by: Don't be dumb

Laughing at all the people who are saying that the houses that are taking a bunch of OOS (bottom tiers mainly) are being dumb by doing so. It's actually extremely smart to take a bunch of OOS if you're not top 3 because those 3 RUN the MS/Memphis areas. Why not take top girls from the other 49 states that those houses overlook? If you're going to shame anyone, shame the houses that only pull from one state, not the ones that give honest chances to the rest of the 49. More OOS students are coming here every year. Get smart about it.

Also remember that the cost of tuition for you in state girls is what it is because of the amount of OOS students that attend. The OOS kids are helping pay for your schooling because of the amount of out of state tuition.

Didn't the state of Mississippi invent inbreeding?

(1) top 3 doesn't run the jackson/memphis area. they run legacies.
(2) just like it's dumb for the top 3 to usually look away from far OOS, it is just as dumb as the bottom tiers (mostly aphi) to look away from instate.

with variable quota, a lot of top tier girls were out of top tier houses and a few preferred aphi over the middle tiers, it was a great chance for aphi to get some top tier level girls and plant their foot in the jackson/memphis area, but they overlooked those girls and stuck to their usually far oos/based on looks.

Alpha Phi nationally wants girls who look a certain. Their organization does not worry much about grades or standards. I'm not saying this to be mean. They want pretty girls who giggle. Talk to other campuses with recently colonized chapters. This is a strategy and to a large degree it works. It is working at Ole Miss. The girls are pretty and popular! That is a success on most college campuses. The other fact about APhi, which is a fact, is that the girls themselves do not vote as a whole for membership. They may rank or score PNMs after rounds but the women from nationals and their chapter leadership (maybe) go into a room and calculate invitations and ultimately a bid list. This is also how tri delt operates during rush. It is why their membership is sent home so soon after party rounds. Watch next year and see what houses "let out" early and which ones are there way into the morning. Both houses are obviously good - my point is just that they are run differently from most other sororities.

Aphi doesn't cut just because you're in state while a lot of top tiers cut just because you're OOS. Aphi has several in-state girls... If in-state girls were cut, it was for other reasons.

Alpha Phi's don't "vote" for their sisters, but they score. Nationals has nothing to do with the list. The girls turn in their scores for each girl, the girls scores are added up and an average score is given, then the girls are ranked by average score. Wherever the cut-off is for the next day's parties, that's where the line is drawn. It's all a numbers game.

Not even about Alpha Phi specifically. Girls tell everything. Might want to ask KD about the "5", "3", and "1" points they can assign to girls to make the bid list. Might want to ask ADPi what "hold!" means. Might want to ask DG why they have a ton of markers/highlighters in their house.
