pnms - dirty rushing suck too
by: Both Ways
So, you know what? Here's the truth, as actives in a sorority we try to sell our sorority on PNMs while they're trying to sell themselves on us...
There are a few top PNMs who are wanted by several sororities and they LIE when they tell us they want to pledge our letters too!! Then to find out they didn't even rank your sorority in their top two and aren't coming to pref??? While we know for SURE if they had ranked us higher they would be at our pref!!!
So, here it is for you dirty little PNMs who do this and others.... don't shame the sororities for trying to maximize their options too!!!
Why can't we all just tell the dang truth????

Seriously? Y'all are just crying over the same Jackson Private School Girls - which is the dumbest thing ever. If you had a half a brain you would realize there are just as many great (actually better) girls than the girls you're fighting over. There's over 1,400 girls going through rush - move on.

This is one of the most self-involved posts I've ever seen. The fact of the matter is that PNMs have VERY LITTLE to no power during recruitment. Their "power" resides solely in the ability to rank houses IF they are lucky enough to be invited back to parties. That's it. They can't override a house's decision to release them, and they can't release a house from their list. They may only rank.
These PNMs have been scared that they may be released from every house. They also have been inundated with gossip that if they join certain houses they will commit social suicide. The whole ordeal of recruitment is rife with dreadful possibilities from their perspectives. The one thing drilled into them is to be nice and engaged at ALL houses and express interest in each house. They may love a certain house and wish they could tell the others that they aren't interested, but would you seriously advise a PNM to do that? That would be awful advice, and you know it.
For once this week of focusing on what you as an active like or don't like about the PNMs and judging them from tip to toe, from their social media pictures to their reputations on campus, take a deep breath and imagine their perspective on this week. They may have wanted to level with you that they liked XO more than DG (etc.), but you know that they can no more do this than you can tell a certain PNM that you prefer her roommate to her. What if you need that very PNM for quota? I think a little bit of compassion would go a long way here. It's been a long, exhausting week on both sides of rush.

There is always something you can do if your information source is good and credible. Leadership is about being able to make that determination and tell the person who wrote the letter, "We had it on good authority that Polly PNM was interested in another sorority more than ours and we can't take that financial hit this year. I hope you understand."
